- When: on August 30-31

- Where: Thua Thien Hue

VOV - Vietnam’s 17th information and communications technology (ICT) development seminar will take place in the central province of Thua Thien Hue on August 30-31.

With the theme “Promoting IT Infrastructure for Socio-economic Development”, the event is intended to encourage cooperation among cities, provinces, and economic zones and boost ICT application and development.

Delegates can present their ideas and share their experiences in using ICT in administrative reforms and businesses.

Le Sy Minh, director of Thua Thien-Hue province’s Department of Information and Communications, said the seminar will focus on familiar topics such as future directions for ICT infrastructure, applying IT at a national level, establishing e-government, and using ICT in education, healthcare, and banking.

The seminar will also encompass a science and technology product exhibition and tours of models of provincial management using IT.

At the Vietnam Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Summit 2013 in the capital city of Hanoi on June 20 with the theme “IT - Foundation of development and national competitiveness”, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked ministries, sectors and localities to boost the use of information and communication technology (ICT).

Last year, Vietnam’s information technology (IT) revenue rose by 70% from a year earlier to $23 billion despite the economic slowdown.
