South African tour operators to study Vietnam potential (15/6/2012)

When: September 2012

Where: not decided

Up to 12 travel operators from South Africa will pay a visit to Vietnam in September to survey the local tourism potential and seek partners, state media reported.

Asian Trails Co., LTD will cooperate with foreign partners to organize the trip, an official from the company said.

“Vietnam, where is home to many beautiful landscapes, long coastline and rich culture, is one of most attractive tourist destinations in Asia as well as in the world. However, its potential has not been tapped effectively,” the official said.

During the eight-day trip, the operators from Brazil, Chile and Argentina will take a trans-Vietnam tour, Bui Viet Thuy Tien, director of Asian Trails said.

Tourists from South African nations are very interested in five-star resorts, entertainment services on beach and world heritage sites, Tien added.

Currently, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways are launching flights between Vietnam and South African countries. Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways will join the market in the near future, creating favorable condition for tourism development, Tien noted.

This month, Asian Trails is planning to cooperate with Vietnam Airlines to organize a tour for representatives from 10 French tourism firms who want to study the country’s potential.

Vietnam attracted 2.95 million international tourist arrivals in the first five months of this year, up 17.5% on year. The country targets to welcome 6.5 million international tourist arrivals and earns revenues of VND150 trillion in 2012.
